Update-3/27/13

The connection was poor when I FT(face time) them. Mom was sitting in the wheelchair, apparently already up for 30 minutes. Her food variety has broadened a lot! She took a sip/table spoon of grape juice, apple, 土瓜, 稀飯加肉鬆。Joe added that she didn't like apple. Communication is not good today, so I have no more news! This is their 4:30pm.

The doctor didn't come today, so there is no news of going home yet!

This is an email from Peggy, I copied it to send on to all of you. There is an email from 思瑜
Hope you can all received that.

There is a picture somewhere, I am working to see if I can see it and copy it.

Last posting by Peggy----3/24/2013

Everybody is here on this Palm Sunday: Stephen, Phoebe, Joseph, Peggy, Suyen and Siyu.
Mom is obviously happy to see us here. She took her yogurt and cranberry liquid with the speech therapist. She stood briefly with her other therapists.

Phoebe noted great improvement since she last saw Mom! I am leaving tomorrow morning.

From now on, Phoebe will be the person to update us Mom's progress by emails.

We are excited about Mom's good progress and I look forward to seeing her at home when I visit in in April!

Thank you for tuning in to my report! I will be back in April from 4/18-25!

March 23, 2013---想唔想飲雞湯呀?

On this Saturday morning, she saw all her therapists: OT, ST and PT before 10:30 AM! She was fed the cranberry liquid by mouth, ugh!!!! 好難食! Sour and bad tasting....she did swallow slowly, we prodded her on....and she finished. The Speech Therapist (the weekend one) asked what she likes to eat?

I said something like 穆記牛肉麪....
Oh, then maybe she can sip some beef broth or chicken soup!! The ST said.....
I turned to Mom and asked her in simple Cantonese: 想唔想飲雞湯呀?
She nodded right away.....her eyes brightened!

Next, we need to ask Dr. Si if she can sip and swallow chicken broth for speech therapy!
Maybe she can share chicken soup with her two sons very soon!!

Watching 101 from the window---3/21/2013

She was awake at mid morning! She nodded when asked if she wanted to sit in the wheelchair.
We wheeled her outside her room and found a window facing 101. She sat there for awhile looking....

3/22/13 update from LA after Facetimed with Peggy in taiwan

Good Morning Everyone,

Peggy is at the hospital early this morning and since it is a very nice day, they decided to wake Mom up to wheel her to the indoor garden as well as having a view of the 101 building.
But Mom was tired after awhile so she was put back to bed.

Mom will have a big day today as she is scheduled for a session with the 針救師. Pray that it will help her regain her speech. Stephen has returned to Taipei last night and phoebe will join him today.

I saw Mom , her face is looking a little better, but not yet a smile. 媽媽加油 !

Peggy please give me the Internet connection for the broadcast.

I was not successful with the pictures you asked me to take, maybe next time.
The icon for attaching the picture looks like a framed picture with mountain and a sun at the bottom right hand corner

Take care everyone, Peggy sent out an email with more details.

Love,
Alice

Highlight of March 20

Despite the setback of needing to use the catheter again last night, there are a few high points today:

1) Dr. Si gave us a tentative date of discharge----end of March or next week.
2) For the first time we put her in a wheelchair and wheeled her out to see the flowers in the hallway. She did not use the oxygen tank and can tolerate 10-15 minutes until the doctor came to change her dressing.
3) She gave Pastor and Mrs. 史 a big smile when they came to visit. She smiled a few more times since then.....made our day indeed!
4) The acupuncturist will visit tomorrow!

Everything is progressing well and we continue to see miracles.....
Unfortunately I still don't know how to upload photos on this blog yet!

16th update 3/12/13

Good morning everyone. It is very warm here and the weather is perfect.

When we arrived at the hospital Mom is already sitting up and later standing up. She stood longer today and breath normally. Joe is here already resuming his duty and always like to message her fingers.

Mom had a chest and stomach X-ray and found out her stomach has a lot of stow so they are using medicine to relieve her. In the afternoon her heart rate raise rapidly and she had a EKG so the doctor gave her one more heart pill. She is back to normal now.

Her right hand is getting better and sometimes she like to move the rubber clip on her finger which is connect to a monitor. She can express her wish better and we believe she will recover soon. Just pray for that.

This will be my last blog from Taiwan, thanks for tuning in.
Eunice and I will return to the US This afternoon.

Love,
Alice

15th update 3/11/13

Greeting from Mom's bedside. How do you like the Guest update and the pictures.

Today is another 突破, Mom stood up !! She was sitting up by her bedside and was able to
Sat by herself for over 45 minutes. When Eunice wanted to lay her down , Mom pushed her hand away and started to step down on the floor. We didn't want to do this without the therapist and just that time, the therapist showed up and Mom got her wish. She stood for a minute or so, but her heart beat shot up so we didn't want to overdo it. She stood up twice today which is very good already.

The doctor came to see her today, she is going to have a chest and stomach X-Ray today just now she lifted her left hand up and waved. I think she wanted to show us that she is improving and she can do more and more things.

The doctor also said we should take away her oxygen and see how she does.
Eunice has gone home for a well deserved rest.

Stephen is coming down with sore throat so He is staying away from the hospital.

Take care and God Bless.

Alice

Guest update 3/10/13

Hi everyone! Linnet here again!

I'm amazed at how many apple products we have in this hospital room!
We've got some very tech savvy family!

Cliff has been giving some iPad lessons to the aunties.

After Aunty Alice returns to the USA, the main iPad for FaceTime-ing will be through Nai Nai's God daughter, Szuyu's iPad. Please add her address to your account. It's: luszuyu@gmail.com

Well, I'm a year older today. I'm happy to be able to spend this day with Nai Nai, my parents and Aunty Alice and Aunty Eunice! It's not so often we can gather together. How old am I now? You can look at the candles on the cake :)

We are leaving for the airport soon! We hope to come back again soon!

Signing off now.

Guest update 3/9/13

Hi everyone! Linnet here.

We are here in Taipei for the weekend. Initially we were planning to go to Bangkok for a quick get away but decided to switch the destination to Taipei to see Nai Nai. It's our very first time to travel without the girls. Luckily Rebecca is taking a good care of them along with our super nanny.

Today Nai Nai was sleeping all afternoon. She finally woke up in the evening and we had a very fun FaceTime session with Uncle Johnny, Uncle Joseph, Aunty Peggy, Wayne, Eileen and got to peek a bit of baby Nathan sleeping!

Nai Nai seems to be doing well and improving! The Indonesian helper is very nice and very hands on. Thank God for his great timing and His provisions.

Here are some photos from today (after Aunty Alice went home!)
Enjoy!

13th updates 3/9/13

Good Morning Everyone,

Reporting at the hospital and all is on the right track. Doctor said that Mom can go home in two weeks. So we are planing this next step. We will lease her hospital bed and the helper will sleep with her on a twin bed in the same room. She will become her full time helper.

Today at lunch we are going with Stephen, Phoebe,Linnet and Clifford.
It seem there will be approximately two more weeks before the application for the helper will be official.

Dora and John, I have hugged Mom for you, I will do it again.
Mom is looking good today, yesterday there were 17 visitors. On the broadcast we emphasized that we thank everyone for their prayers but please don't come to the hospital to visit because it will tired Mom.

Mom's reactions to voices is better, she volunteered an extra sit up yesterday and each time she can sit about 30 minutes. She is beginning to lift her left hand high and her right hand a little bit.

Sign off for now, same time same station tomorrow!

12th updates 3/8/13

Today is a busy day and we have a lot of people visiting. Stephen and phoebe came to visit and Linnet and Clifford also came from Hong Kong. They stayed with Mom while Eunice and I went the the broadcasting station to get on air to thank people for their support and prayer for us and for Mom.

Her back sore is healing nicely and we don't need to use a ballon on her button ,which could be very uncomfortable. She is sitting up longer each session and mostly can hold herself upright.

The doctor decided that she don't need to use the 化痰藥 because she can 吐痰 on her own.
Yesterday she started turning herself (only from left to right) but we are delighted. Please continue to pray for the day nurse , we hope that we can have the one we like to take care of Mom before Eunice and I leave Taipei.

The nurse wash her hair today and she is looking good.she even moved her right hand a little bit.

Take care, everyone, sorry I am late today.

Masriah is still coming,Mom seem to like her and this morning She gave Mom a pedicure.

Eunice is still here today as we are expecting Stephen and phoebe.

Last evening, 台中的汪牧師,師母來看媽媽 mom recognized them and kept starring at them and move her mouth to say something. This is the most we saw Mom moved her mouth. After she was exhausted. We believe this is a big step in recovering her speech.

Today is Tuesday and I am in the hospital updating you all about Mom condition. Eunice stayed with Mom last night with the night nurse and I went time by myself.

Yesterday during the day, Mom slept a little less than the day before. The physical therapist came in the morning and Mom sat up very well. In the afternoon around 3 o'clock , Mom lifted up her head and wanted to sit up again, so we helped her up and a few minutes later, 譚國英 and 梁麗丹from Hong Kong 611 came to visit her. They came especially to visit her from Hong Kong so Mom decided to sit and welcome her guest, she even smiled slightly, at least 不是苦臉.

Less than a hour later, the Facial therapist showed up and Mom was willing to sit up once again. 媽媽好捧啊.

The helper washed her hair in the morning so she is 好香 .

She had a hard time moving her bowl movement last night, Doctor decided to remove her urine tube and add one more stow softener pill. They also cut her blood sugar testing from 4 times A day to twice a day.

Eunice went home for a rest and Masriah and I are here. Mom is resting and that's why I can write more.

We just submitted the application and they said it might takes a week or more. Please pray that
The application will go through quickly and smoothly.

6th updates 3/2/13

Hi Everyone,

Today is Saturday and we are here in the hospital. The night nurse came at 8pm and seems to be well suited with Mom. Eunice said she is skillful and soft spoken. Eunice watched her last night and 羅小姐 (the nurse) was able to handle to turn Mom by herself.

We have no news regarding the day nurse but trust that God will provide the right person.

Mom is resting but still have no expression.

So much for now, will talk later.

5th update 3/1/13

Good morning everybody. Mom is resting nicely but is getting restless at time. She is beginning to let us know her dislikes ie. she doesn't like the insulin shot and she doesn't like the 化痰薬which take a long time to spray. Yesterday an older brother who is 96 year old (張復舜)came to visit Mom.

We are still praying for a day time nurse. The night time nurse is coming tonight, please pray that is she will be suitable for Mom.

She sat up for about 5 minutes this morning and she moved her right hand a little bit.

The picture I am sending is taken when Brother Chang came to visit her and when she sat up and when we turn her.

Signing off until next time.
